Custer was known to be quite a horseman. When he was stationed at Fort Knox, he spent a lot of time in Lexington, VA visiting the best horse farms. He even bought a Thoroughbred while there named Victory that he took west with him as one of his two favorite battle horses. Luckily, for Victory, he was not selected for the expedition to the Little Big Horn. Another fact does show that Victory did go on that expedition. His fate is officially unknown, but he was never located after the battle.
